Stand for splitting firewood with a hammer from an old car wheel

If you periodically come to chop small firewood for the barbecue, you can make a special stand for this. It is safer than an ax, since it prevents the splitting of wood from flying around, and it chops more quietly.

What you will need:

• old car disc;
  
• pipe;
  
• thick steel strip.

Rack manufacturing process

The first step is to cut the disk. For the base of the stand you only need its rim.

After this, it is necessary to bore 2 opposite half-holes for welding pipes.

Next, 2 pieces of pipe, 45 cm each, are prepared. They are welded to the disk vertically.



Then you need to weld a sharpened strip between them.



Finally, you need to widen the hole in the cut part of the disk and weld it onto the pipes.


To use the rack, you need to place a log or board in it on a sharpened strip, and hit it with a hammer from above. As a result, the log will split neatly.
