Repairing a leaky sole with a car tire
If the sole of your favorite pair of shoes is cracked or worn out, then you can glue an indestructible pad cut from an ordinary car tire onto it. Such repairs will extend the life of sneakers or sneakers for years, until they tear at the top.
Materials:
- any car tire;
- shoe glue.
Sole repair process
You need to cut a flap from the tire to make a lining. Since the rubber is too thick and hard, it is better to use only the top layer. To do this, you need to set the blade offset to 5 mm on the mounting knife and use it to cut the tire along the edges along the tread.
Having passed the tire around in two places, you need to cut it across and remove the top layer of tread, pulling off the rubber with pliers. You need a flap long enough for two soles.
Next, you will need to scratch the rubber and soles with a metal brush. If possible, everything should be degreased.
Then glue is applied according to the instructions, and the soles are glued to the flap.
For strong adhesion, a short, powerful pressure is required. If these are sneakers, then they can be rolled through rollers. Clamps or a vice will also help.
After compression, it is necessary to cut off the protruding part of the rubber and tap the lining with a hammer, pressing against it from the inside.
Once the glue has set, the shoes can be worn. It also doesn’t hurt to sand the edge of the trim to remove traces of cutting.
