How to restore and make a cool ax using a chain
It's hard to imagine a more brutal ax than one made from chain. If the ax is not used for chopping wood, then this is a very interesting idea that can be easily implemented if you have a welding machine.
If the chain is old and rusty, it needs to be immersed in a concentrated solution of citric acid or special corrosion solvents, since cleaning it manually will take a lot of time.
The ax itself is trimmed if necessary; if it is wide, it is cleaned and sharpened. You need to bring it to a mirror shine.
The chain, cleaned in acid, is removed and laid out close to the wooden ax to follow its curves. Then the links are welded together. Welding is done from all sides.
The first link needs to be splashed and welded into the axe.
A piece of rod is inserted into the open eye of the ax and welded.
It needs to be completely welded and polished. Then, if possible, the seam on the links is cleaned.
To protect the ax from corrosion, it should be degreased and coated with a transparent spray varnish. The cutting part should be covered with masking tape.
