How to make a pipe bender from rotors from burnt-out electric motors
Rotors from broken electric motors can be used as rollers in the manufacture of pipe benders. Their use in this capacity will significantly simplify the assembly of the machine.
Materials:
- rotors from electric motors – 3 pcs.;
- bearings in the housing on the feet – 4 pcs.;
- conventional housing bearings – 2 pcs.;
- bent channel 240-400 mm;
- tube 12-15 mm;
- rod 10-12 mm;
- sheet steel from 5 mm;
- hydraulic jack.
Pipe bender manufacturing process
The pipe bender frame is welded from the channel. It is a box, the sole of which is made 2 times longer.
Above the protruding half of the sole, a folding shelf made from a section of channel is installed on the frame. It is attached using a homemade loop, which is tubes welded to the shelf and frame, connected by a pin.
Sections of profile pipe are screwed to the bearing feet of the two rotors. Tall sheet steel eyes with long cutouts and holes for fastening the third rotor are welded to the frame. It is screwed to the racks through regular housing bearings. The rotor axis is equipped with a knob.
One of the rotors on tubes is welded to the frame.The second one is welded onto the folding shelf. After this, the machine is ready for use, all that remains is to paint it.
A jack is placed under the shelf, and a pipe is inserted between the rollers of the machine. Next, the jack rises until the rotor on the shelf rests against it. After this, turning the knob, you need to drive it between the rollers to bend it. Then the jack rises higher, and so on until the workpiece receives the required bending radius.
