How to make a marking compass from trash in just 10 minutes
To draw circles on workpieces, as well as quickly transfer dimensions, you can make a simple marking compass from scrap materials. If you have a welding machine and emery in the garage, it will take no more than 10 minutes to assemble the homemade product. This is a really useful tool that can be equipped for marking with a scriber or marker.
Materials:
- nail 200 mm;
- clamp with a worm mechanism for a diameter of 12 mm;
- M14 bolt with nut;
- drill 12 mm.
Compass manufacturing process
It is necessary to weld a clamp to the nail head so that it can be clamped. Then you need to drill an M14 bolt from the side and sharpen its end to a cone. It is put on a nail and tightened with a nut. A sharpened piece of a 12 mm drill is installed in the clamp.
The resulting compass can be used to apply markings to metal. The bolt acts as the center, and the drill draws a circle. Also, instead of a drill, you can install a marker and make markings with it.
