How to use a glue gun to turn plastic bags into plastic for DIY projects

The topic of recycling plastic bags at home has recently become increasingly popular. For this purpose, extruders of various capacities are manufactured. In the same case, if you plan to make small parts from HDPE and crafts, then you can get by with a regular glue gun. To do this you will need to assemble a simple device.

Materials:

• thin tube with thread;
  
• cap nut;
  
• bolt.

To use a glue gun as a plastic extruder, you must first process the bags into sticks. This will require a special form. To make it, a thin tube is selected, the internal diameter of which corresponds to the cross-section of the glue sticks of the existing gun. At least one edge must be equipped with an external thread. A plug or cap nut is screwed onto it.


Bags marked HDPE are stuffed into the mold and sealed with a bolt.Then it needs to be heated to 120°-135°C. This can be done in the oven. Next, a bolt is inserted into the mold with hot plastic, and they are clamped in a clamp or vice.




After cooling, the plug is removed and the plastic rod is knocked out of the tube. Now it can be installed in a glue gun.


He will heat up the plastic and squeeze it out through the spout.
