Cheap, reliable DIY chemical anchors

For fastening to walls made of loose materials, as well as concrete structures close to the edge, it is best to use a chemical anchor. Unlike a spacer, it does not break out or chip the base, so choosing it is a guarantee of reliable fixation, even under heavy load. Since the price of chemical anchors is steep, they can be made from cheaper materials that are easy to obtain.

Materials:

  • automotive putty;
  • sand;
  • syringe;
  • threaded rod.

Manufacturing process of chemical anchors

Before making the composition, you need to pre-drill all the holes, blow them out of dust, and also prepare threaded rods. Only after this can the substance be mixed, as it hardens quickly.

Next, two-component automotive putty is mixed in a small amount.

A little sifted sand is added to it.

The composition is drawn into a syringe and squeezed into the holes.

After this, a little mass is applied to the studs and they are screwed in. First cut the hairpin into pieces.

After just a couple of hours, the putty will hold in such a way that you can attach it to the anchors.

We cut off the protruding pins.

    Have you already forgotten the old old-fashioned method - using ordinary plaster, wire and screws?
    We just wrap the screw with wire so that it sticks out in different directions, there is no need to wrap it tightly, the hole is filled with plaster and the screw with the wire is pressed into it, then you can remove the excess or add plaster if there is not enough.
    You can use it in just 20 minutes!

    I recently modernized the method, I ran out of wood putty and since there’s a lockdown in the yard and you can’t just run to the store, I had to improvise - I mixed fine putty with PVA wood glue, a little water so that it was like sour cream - I can putty, and the thing turned out to be very powerful, later I tried fixing plastic dowels in the wall - a very good result.There is only one downside to putty - if anything is left in sagging, unlike the original, it is very difficult to remove!

    I had a case in the past when several dowels were missing, but there was no way to buy more.
    I swept the concrete dust left from the floor after drilling the holes, mixed it with PVA, pushed it into the holes and inserted the screws there, turning them slightly.
    After drying it held up very well. And after five years I was even able to unscrew these screws.
