How to use a screwdriver with a dead battery
Buy a new one or restore the old one? - This is usually the question asked by craftsmen whose rechargeable battery (battery) of a screwdriver has failed or has significantly lost capacity. If they say that it is better to restore it and it will be much more convenient to use, then few will believe it, but in vain.
Here's a great idea: how to turn a screwdriver into a stationary one, and use it for assembly, say, on a table in a workshop.
This will be much more convenient, since it will be: always at hand, always ready for work, very light, since there is no battery. Yes, he lost his mobility, but he found a new use. So this is an extremely useful change.
How you can try to restore the batteries, read here - https://home.washerhouse.com/en/5219-mozhno-li-vosstanovit-akkumuljator-dlja-shurupoverta-ne-razbiraja-ego-moj-opyt.html
Will need
- For block: transformer, capacitors, diode bridge. Or a ready-made block - http://alii.pub/5leqau
- Double insulated braided wire.
- Germovvody.
- A piece of PVC pipe.
- Two-component epoxy-based adhesive (cold welding).
- Metal case from an uninterruptible power supply or another.
Making a power source and remaking a screwdriver
Using a grinder or a hacksaw, we saw off the lower extension for the battery using a screwdriver.
We take the wire, strip it and tin it. We solder it to the power buses where the battery was previously connected.
Close the lid and secure it with screws.
Now you need to make a cover for the battery compartment. We take a pressure seal and a piece of grinder disk, everything matches in diameter. We break off with pliers under the hole in the screwdriver.
We screw the sealed lead into the piece of disk and thread the wire through the whole thing.
Mix two-component glue and cover all the free space on top with it.
Leave to dry and harden for 24 hours.
Making a block
The block will be assembled according to the classical scheme of a transformer and a rectifier.
(If you don’t want to bother, you can always buy it; a ready-made pulse source is quite suitable - http://alii.pub/5leqau)
We take a 15 V transformer, since after rectification it will be almost exactly 19 V. In fact, this is what is needed to power a 19-volt screwdriver.
We take a metal case from a burnt-out uninterruptible power supply. We drill holes for the transformer mountings.
We screw the transformer.
On the front panel we cut out a hole for the switch.
Let's install it.
At the bottom of the shield we drill holes for the input and output of wires, as well as the fuse holder.
We install everything into the holes of the pressure seals.
Let's put together a diagram.
Everything must be fastened securely. All wires and terminals must be insulated.
We make a holder for a screwdriver from a PVC pipe: we drill a hole with a crown and trim it with a stationery knife.
The workstation is ready.
The fact that a screwdriver is always at hand is very convenient. And the fact that it is also lightweight is generally very cool.
The hand no longer gets tired, the unit has enough power to spare.
