A root watering system made from a PET bottle will help plants and save you water.
Plants suffer from both lack of moisture and excess. To optimize watering of garden plants, there are various devices that can be successfully replaced with homemade ones.
Will need
- plastic bottle from 2 to 5 liters;
- a piece of foam rubber 30×30×100 mm;
- knife or scissors;
- spatula.
Implementation process
Using a knife, cut off the bottom of the bottle. In place of the cork, tightly screw a foam strip bent in half into the neck until one end reaches the transition part, and the other outside forms something like a “rose”. We check the intensity of future watering. To do this, pour water into the bottle and visually observe the drop. If it does not suit us, then we take foam rubber with a larger or smaller cross-section, respectively, reducing or increasing water consumption. Then, using a spatula, make a hole in the ground up to 5 cm deep, lower the bottle with foam rubber down into it and sprinkle it with earth, lightly compacting it with your hands.The presence of foam rubber, in addition to ensuring optimal watering, prevents the neck from becoming clogged with soil. We plant seedlings or plant seeds at a distance of up to 5 cm from the bottle. By doing this, we ensure slow watering of the roots from the inside and, as a result, we save water, prevent the formation of a crust on the surface of the earth, so that the plants do not suffer from a lack of oxygen, and the roots tend to go deeper.Watch the video
