How to make a knife sheath from PVC pipe and leather
The knife must be stored correctly. Keeping the blade in a sheath is ideal. It's high quality and convenient. And any craftsman can make a sheath with his own hands at home. Today we’ll talk about making reliable sheaths from plastic and leather.
We will need:
- Plastic or PVC pipe.
- Leather.
- Gas burner or hair dryer.
- Glue and thread with a needle.
Shaping the scabbard
We begin to heat the pipe. It’s better, of course, to use a PVC pipe and a hair dryer, so the result will be better, but only at intermediate stages. That is, it will be possible to do without leather; a PVC trunk will still look decent with due care. But in any case, I want to cover it with leather, so I only took up the appearance at the final stage. After heating the pipe, it must be compressed. To do this, I pressed it to the workbench with a piece of clapboard; any other flat board will do. Next, heating the pipe, we stick a knife inside, pre-wrapped in film for protection, of course, and form the shape of the trunk right along the knife. Well, let's cut off the excess. When the shape of the sheath was ready, I unfolded it to glue the inside with the reverse side of the leather. I took inexpensive leather, since I only needed its soft side. It will protect the knife from unnecessary scratches. After the glue had dried, I rolled the sheath back up and soldered the seam by heating it up and squeezing it with pliers. Rough rayas must be cut evenly. And you can try on the knife without the protective film!Leather covering
By and large, if we worked more carefully, we could have stopped there. But I initially wanted a leather sheath. So I took better leather, glued it on top and on the sides of the scabbard, and stitched it with a saddle stitch at the bottom. Cut off the excess and you're done! The reliable sheath is ready. The knife fits well in them, does not fall out, but is not too tight either. Now the knife is very convenient to store and carry. Please note that I did not intend the sheath to be worn on a belt! So don't forget the belt loop if needed. I have already taken the knife fishing in this sheath and was more than pleased with it. I can recommend such a sheath. How to make a “leather” sheath from ordinary fabric - https://home.washerhouse.com/en/6424-kak-sdelat-kozhanye-nozhny-iz-obychnoj-tkani.html
