How to make a loft-style door handle from steel strips and a piece of reinforcement

Loft or industrial style appeared recently, but has already firmly established itself in interior design, including houses and apartments. Its features are shown below using the example of a door handle.

Will need

We will make it from periodic profile reinforcement and two pieces of steel strip of different widths. For this you will need:

bench vice;
grinder and drill;
semi-automatic welding (MIG);
metal file;
marker and measuring tool;
spray paint, etc.

Manufacturing process

We bend the ends of the piece of reinforcement clamped in a vice at a right angle using a piece of pipe.

We cut off the excess with a grinder. We control the bend angles, the location of the ends in the same plane and the straightness of the longitudinal protrusion on the reinforcement along the entire length. Otherwise, the quality and appearance of the product will suffer.

We mark a narrow steel strip taking into account the dimensions of the bracket and cut off the required length.

Grind the corners at 45 degrees with a grinder.

We symmetrically install the bracket on the strip, mark the centers of its “legs”, mark it, and drill two through holes with a diameter slightly smaller than the diameter of the bracket.

We place a strip on the clamp clamped in a vice with the “legs” up so that the centers of the holes coincide with the centers of the “legs”. Maintaining alignment, we weld the parts together.

We mark a wide strip in proportion to the narrow one and cut it to the required length. We mark the places where the wide strip will be welded to the narrow one, strictly under the “legs” of the bracket and in the middle, we cap them, drill them and cut the corners at 45 degrees.

We symmetrically lay a narrow strip with a bracket on a wide strip, secure them with clamps, and weld them together through the holes. We clean all cut edges and welding points with a file and grinder.
