How to make a cabinet shelf out of cardboard
If your closet does not have enough shelves, do not rush to order them from furniture makers. Even if you don’t have any tools at all, you can make them with your own hands from ordinary cardboard. All you need is a utility knife and a square.
Materials:
- corrugated cardboard;
- thick regular cardboard;
- PVA glue;
- furniture self-adhesive film.
Shelf manufacturing process
At the location of the shelf you need to install 4 shelf supports. Then 5 or more blanks are cut from corrugated cardboard to the size of the required shelf. It is better to cut with a stationery or mounting knife under a ruler. The blanks are glued together and left to dry.
Regular cardboard is glued to the top of the corrugated cardboard shelf blank.
All sides are sealed with it, including visible edges. The corners should be even.
After the glue has dried, furniture film, matched to the color of the cabinet, is glued to the shelf. The backing is gradually torn off, and it is smoothed evenly without gaps to avoid the formation of air bubbles.
As a result, we get a shelf that is absolutely indistinguishable from the chipboard from which the cabinet is made.
It can easily withstand a load of a couple of kilograms. At the same time, its production is very simple and inexpensive.
