How to convert a 220 V screwdriver using a computer unit
This is one of the simplest and most accessible instructions for quickly reviving your screwdriver with barely alive or completely dead batteries. After all, finding an old computer power supply is quite easy. It does not need to be redone, even if your screwdriver is 18 Volt and the unit is 12 V. For small tasks it will be enough, the difference will not be very noticeable. Well, if the instrument is 12 V, then, as they say, everything is as it should be.
The power of the unit even from a very old computer will be quite enough.
Will need
- Computer power supply.
- Capacitor.
- Wires.
Converting a screwdriver to 220V power supply with your own hands
We disassemble the battery compartment of the screwdriver.
We remove the batteries and dispose of them appropriately.
But first, bite off the contacts for connecting to the block.
The block itself.
We take a two-core piece of wire 1.5 meters long and with a cross-section of 4 sq. mm.
We tin the wires from all sides.
Solder the wires to the contacts of the block.
At the end of the connection side, in the center, drill a hole for a screw.
Since the battery is no longer in the case, the block will now be held in place by a bolt.We drill a hole and glue the nut with hot glue so that it is convenient to tighten it during assembly.
We assemble the block.
We drill a hole on the side of the base for the wire and pass it through.
To avoid tearing out the wire while working, we will tie the edge with electrical tape.
Let's assemble the battery block.
From the old computer motherboard we unsolder the connector for connecting the unit. Solder the other end of the wire to it.
Let's move on to finalizing the block. If you plug it directly into the network, it will not start. You need to close the start contacts. Usually there is a connection diagram on the case.
In this block you need to short the blue wire to the black wire - common.
We do this using a jumper.
Let's check. The unit started up - the fan inside started spinning.
We connect through the connector to the screwdriver.
Everything works great.
The updated tool is excellent at driving self-tapping screws and does not require recharging time.
