2 ways to straighten a champagne cork
Wine and champagne corks can be used to make handles for knives and spinning rods, as well as floats and other crafts. But before that, they need to be straightened, since they lose their shape after being in the neck of the bottle. There are two ways to do this.
Method 1. Fast, but wrong
The cork is placed in a bowl of water and placed in the microwave to heat.
You need to heat it until it straightens. Depending on the power of the stove and the condition of the plug, this will take 2-10 minutes.
With this method, the cork will straighten out, but will burn inside. If it needs to be cut, it will become noticeable. It is quite suitable for painted floats, but in most cases it will be rejected.
Method 2. Longer and more effective
The cork is thrown into a boiling pan and cooked for 30-40 minutes over low heat.
Although it takes longer, it will not burn. After drying, the cork will be like new.
