How to make a simple small-sized antenna for digital TV
The design of this antenna is distinguished by its simplicity, small size and good sensitivity. Simplicity is achieved due to the absence of matching circuits, and high sensitivity due to the construction of a structure similar to a fractal antenna. The result is a device with a small size and a wide reception range.
This sample works great both indoors and outdoors.
Needed to build an antenna
- Base: wooden block or plastic rectangle.
- Single-core wire or wire with a diameter of 1.5-3 mm.
- Self-tapping screws with washers.
- A piece of shielded wire with a plug.
Making an antenna for digital TV with your own hands
The antenna drawing with dimensions looks like this:
The arms of the vibrator will be made of thick copper wire. Remove the insulation from the wires using a utility knife.
We take a piece of wire and use a ruler to make marks for bending.
Bend the arms of the antenna using pliers.
You need to make two identical antenna arms. To check the accuracy, attach it to the drawing.
We drill holes in the wooden base for self-tapping screws.
We install the vibrator arms and secure them with self-tapping screws.
We screw the cable wires with the plug from the bottom.
The antenna is ready for use.
Testing the antenna in action
We plug it into the TV socket. The antenna is positioned vertically and can be hung on the wall.
We perform automatic configuration.
And in the end we get an excellent and working antenna. Of course, you shouldn’t expect extreme sensitivity from it, but you can still achieve good results. Considering the current cost of antennas, this is a very good option to save a decent amount.
