The simplest door bolt made from a piece of profile and fittings
For safety and economic reasons, it is better to keep the gates and doors of utility rooms near the house or on a summer cottage closed. To do this, you need valves that can be bought in a store, spending a lot of money, especially when you need not one, but a dozen pieces. By using scrap materials to make valves, you can significantly save your family budget.

- a section of profile square pipe;
- piece of reinforcement;
- screws and screws;
- extended nut;
- compression spring;
- padlock.

The process of creating door bolts from scrap metal
Using a grinder, we cut short and long fragments of the estimated length from the profile square pipe, cutting off the ends at 45 degrees.
From the old piece of reinforcement we separate a segment approximately equal in size to a long fragment of a profile square pipe.

On the shortened side of the long square pipe, due to the oblique cuts at the ends, we drill two holes with a countersink. Between the holes we cut a groove equal to the main (smaller) diameter of the holes.
We also drill a through hole in a piece of reinforcement, slightly offset in location from the center, and cut a thread in it with a tap.
We place a piece of reinforcement in a square pipe, aligning the hole with the groove, and screw a screw into it, which should move freely along the entire length of the groove. We drill a threaded hole in the elongated nut, form an outer chamfer at one end and press it against the edges of the groove in the square pipe, screwing the end of the screw into the threaded hole in the fittings.
Having stepped back slightly from the edge of the groove to the end more distant from its ends, we drill a transverse hole in two adjacent sides of the pipe, as well as on the edges of both pipes for fastening.
We put a compression spring on the screw, then a nut and screw the screw into place. As a result, the nut is pressed to the edges of the groove, and in extreme positions it is fixed in the holes drilled at the ends of the groove. In order to move the nut to the side, you need to pull it towards yourself, overcoming the slight resistance of the spring.
At the selected height from the bottom and along the edge of the door leaf, we fix a horizontally long pipe with a crossbar inside, and opposite the crossbar on the vertical post of the door frame - a counter part.
If, with the valve closed, you insert a padlock into the vertical holes of a long pipe and close it, then the bolt cannot be moved to the side and the door cannot be opened.
