Soft book
Any mother can sew a soft educational book from fabric. It requires minimal sewing skills, patience and time to create. Pleasure from the process is guaranteed - for the mother while she is creating, and for the baby while he is playing.
Let's decide on the plots for the book and start making preparations. Pages of the future book - 10 squares of fabric measuring 23x23 cm (with seam allowances).
Cover. We make letter patterns from cardboard (milk formula boxes will work for this) and transfer them to fabric. Remember about mirror reflection, we place the letters differently than in the letter. The height of the finished letter is 11 cm. We glue the letters onto the cover using non-woven fabric and process them with a zigzag.
We place the finished elements on the fabric, but do not sew them on. We will do this when we collect them on 3-5 pages. This will make the work easier if, for example, you need to sew appliqués on different pages with yellow threads.
Summer. The butterfly is a thermal sticker with Velcro sewn onto it. Dragonfly – three-dimensional sticker.
Flower. Petals made of fabric of the same color, but different textures. The berry under the leaf is a button. Teddy bear on a helicopter - thermal sticker with Velcro.
Sun. Rays of ribbons are sewn to the sun in advance, with beads and knots at their ends.Two clouds with Velcro, they are sewn separately, one rustles (cellophane inside), the second, a thundercloud, rings thanks to a fishing bell sewn together with the cotton wool. The white cloud is soft, with beads sewn to the top cloud - droplets of rain.
Rain. Clouds and an umbrella on non-woven fabric. We make patterns for the umbrella. The handle of the umbrella is a cord. The mushroom is soft - there is cotton wool inside.
Felt bag. We embroider the word “surprise” in advance. Inside is a toy or candy.
Herringbone. Christmas tree toys made of felt in the shape of a circle, square and triangle with buttons, inside the tree there is a monkey, ready-made applique. Around – present. We unfasten the buttons and see what’s inside each: an apple, balls, an orange, a smiley button.
Month it is stuffed with cotton as it is stitched. 3 star buttons on a fishing line, the ends of which are tightly tied behind the page, the others are sewn.
Pond. The bottom is an organza ribbon sewn onto the bottom edge. Shells are buttons, fish are iron-on stickers. The seaweed is sewn onto the top and bottom so you can move it around to reveal the felt starfish. The wave ribbons are stitched only on the left and right, the iron-on fish is sewn on, the other button fish can be moved along the ribbon.
Window on a sewing hook, inside there is an applique cut from finished fabric.
We sew the pages together. We take two pages, retreat 1 cm from the edge, outlining the future line with chalk.
Our book will have loops, the length of the loops is 6 cm, the distance from the top edge is 4 cm, from the bottom – 8 cm.
In addition to the loops, don’t forget to attach the book’s clasp – a carabiner – to the cover and last page.
We do not waste the bottom part of the page, turn it inside out, put in a piece of padding polyester measuring 20×20, and sew it up with a zigzag.All! The page is ready.
We connect the finished pages using an elegant ribbon. All! A wonderful gift for a baby is ready!
