Do-it-yourself mini long-burning camping stove using lard
For winter fishing or hiking, you definitely need a stove to heat your tent. If you don’t intend to spend money on a factory device, then make it yourself. The proposed stove design runs on lard.
Materials:
- corrugation for a gas boiler;
- tin cans – 5 pcs.;
- computer fan;
- lithium-ion batteries – 3 pcs.;
- metal bowl or travel frying pan;
- switch;
- clips for PP pipes – 3 pcs.;
- metal hose;
- heat-resistant tape;
- beer can.
Stove manufacturing process
The stove consists of a tray, a disposable tallow candle, a housing, an outer casing, a fan and a chimney. The pallet is a tin can with ventilation holes made on the side. A beer can with a cut-off lid is inserted into it, into which pieces of lard without skin are stuffed with a cloth wick inserted.
The housing is placed on a tray with a disposable candle. It consists of 4-5 cans stacked on top of each other. All the lower ones need to make holes in the bottom so that the smoke and hot air rises up, but as slowly as possible.The jars are connected with heat-resistant tape. A hole is made in the top of them on the side, and a pipe is soldered into it to connect the chimney.
A corrugation for a gas boiler is put on top of the furnace body. You need to make a side hole in it opposite the chimney fitting. A fan is installed on top of it. A metal bowl or travel frying pan with a slotted bottom is used as an adapter. A switch is also embedded into it, and 3 batteries are attached from the inside. They can be secured with pipe clips. Thus, the fan will be autonomous, with a reserve of operation on one charge for 10-12 hours.
To start the stove, you need to light the lard in a candle placed in a tray. Then the housing is put on, and a corrugation with a fan is installed on it. The chimney pipe is connected to the side. If a thermal sleeve is used, it should be wrapped with heat-resistant tape, since it is not airtight.
Filling with lard is enough for 6 hours of burning. Such a stove at -20°C allows you to maintain +3°C in the tent. Considering that it is very light, this is a very good result.
