American bow
Making such a decoration for a little fashionista is pure pleasure! The American bow always looks very lush and elegant. It has a lot of intricate curls. The bow is made from multi-colored rep or satin ribbons. Although the American bow looks sophisticated, it is not at all difficult to make, because it is a design of several bows of different shapes and sizes. The main thing is to choose and combine materials correctly. It is better to take one or two ribbons with a pattern, the rest are plain.
So, to start creating a bow, let’s prepare the following materials and tools:
1. Immediately after cutting, all ribbons should be scorched using matches or a lighter so that they do not fray.
2.We take the two longest ribbons: light pink with polka dots and dark pink with polka dots. We fold the ribbons into a figure eight. To do this, place the edges in the middle of the tape and secure them with a pin.
3. We fold the edges of the eights into the middle, slightly overlapping each other, and pin them again with a pin.
4. We sew it in the middle by hand and tighten it; for strength, you don’t have to cut the thread, but wrap it with thread a few more times. It turns out two bows.
5. Take the narrowest four ribbons, white and pink, 10 mm wide. We fold their ends towards the middle as in the photo. It looks like loops. We fasten with pins.
6. We place the blanks on top of each other and stitch them manually; they can be glued together. Two more bows came out.
7. Now let's start working with short ribbons. We cut their ends at an angle to create a dovetail. We immediately singe the ends.
8. Fold the ribbons, alternating by color or as you like. We stitch it exactly in the middle and tighten it. Again we wrap the thread in the center a couple of times. This is the base of the bow.
9. All components are ready, let's start assembling the bow. We put light pink bows on the base, first from thin ribbons, then with polka dots, and straighten them.
10. Then we put a white one made of thin ribbons and a dark pink bow with polka dots. We sew all the bows to the base, wrap them with thread for reliability, and secure them.
11. Turn the almost finished bow over and glue (or sew on) a hair tie. We choose a small elastic band.
12. Now you need to cover the seams. We wrap a narrow ribbon around the seam and elastic, so that the end of the ribbon is on the front side, and secure it with a drop of glue.
13. Glue a rhinestone or bead into the middle. The American bow is ready!
As you can see, there is nothing difficult in making this bow.If you are doing this for the first time, you will spend about an hour on the work. Experienced craftswomen make this decoration in 30 minutes.
