Hat knitted with “scales”
“Scales” is a very effective knitting. A hat knitted with this pattern is very warm. It is especially good to wear in autumn or early spring. For this headdress you do not need to knit a second layer, because it is already knitted in 2 layers at the same time. The “scale” pattern is also called crocodile stitch. The hat is easy to knit.
To knit a hat of size 54-56, you will need 120 g of CASYMERE GOLD wool yarn, the meter of thread in 100 g of which is 320 m, as well as hook No. 3.
The pattern report consists of 6 loops. We collect a chain of 96 air loops. This will be our head size.
We knit 1 double crochet into each loop of the chain. At the end we finish with a connecting loop.
Rotate knitting. Under the height of the third column we knit 5 s/dc, 1 in. p. (you don’t have to knit it) and under the height of the fourth column we also knit 5 dc. Then we connect the scale with the previous row in the sixth column with a single crochet loop. So until the end of the row. We finish the row with a connecting loop. It turned out 16 scales.
We turn the knitting again and knit a double crochet over each loop of the previous row. We connect with a half loop.
Turn the knitting. So that our scales go in a checkerboard pattern, we start the row with two single crochets in the loops of the previous row and continue knitting. Only now we tie not 2 and 3 columns, but 5 and 6. That is, we simply shift our pattern by 3 loops and now the tip of the scales of each subsequent row will be between the two peaks of the previous ones.
We repeat the report 10 times. Then we proceed to decrease the loops to form the crown.
To do this, when knitting double crochet stitches on the wrong side over the knitted stitches, we will make two double crochet loops with a common top, that is, we will decrease the loops over the two knitted stitches. Why above them? Yes, so as not to make a mistake and evenly reduce the rows.
When we start decreasing the stitches in the row, the report will change a little. There will be no need to attach the post binding to the previous row. Leave gaps so that the knitting is freer and the crown is beautifully shaped. Knit the pattern itself as before. In this case, the number of scales will decrease, and thanks to the loose binding, they will be evenly distributed.
After just 2 rows of decreases, you will have 9 scales left. Continue decreasing. If you find yourself with extra loops, distribute them evenly when you make a row of tying columns in height, skip not 2, but, say, 3 loops.
If there are already 5 or 6 scales left, the reduction can be stopped.
To finish the crown, we knit double crochets over the stitches of the previous row from the wrong side and, pulling the thread through them, tighten it.
You have a beautiful crown. You can insert a knitted button of a different color there, and you will get a rose.
The hat was knitted for an adult woman. But her daughter liked it so much that she had to give it as a gift. The child's joy knew no bounds. And warm, and beautiful, and no one else has one like it! Wear it with pleasure!
