Children's hat with ears
Knitting children's clothes is a pleasure. It takes little time and materials to make them. And you can imagine anything you want in decor.
So I decided to pamper my granddaughter with a new hat. I always have a lot of yarn in stock. Both new skeins and leftovers. The yarn is different in texture, thickness, and color. This time I decided to knit a simple white hat. My yarn is bouclé and regular acrylic (from the Pekhorka factory). I wound them into one ball to make knitting easier. It took me about 100 grams of yarn and four hours to make a hat for a three-year-old child.
I decided to knit with needles No. 2 and also prepared a hook of the same size for sewing a hat and knitting a flower. Yes, you will also need a regular needle and a button.
The volume of my granddaughter's head is 48 cm. I also measured her head from the end of the forehead (or the beginning of hair growth) to the neck. I got 30 cm. This size needs to be divided by two to find out the height of the cap.
I cast on 84 stitches on the needles and knitted four rows with a 2 x 2 elastic band (two knit stitches, two purl stitches).
Then I knitted in garter stitch (all rows with knit stitches) without any increases or decreases, until I got a rectangle measuring 46 by 15 cm. I closed the loops of the last row with a hook and, without tearing off the thread, crocheted the rectangle into a cylinder (or pipe) . The thread was torn off (you can cut it with scissors). The product was turned right side out.
After that, I folded the pipe so that the seam was in the middle, and crocheted the top along the front side. The result is a hat like this. To make it more fun and interesting, I made ears on the hat: I sewed two diagonals at the corners of the hat with a regular needle and white threads (the same ones I used to knit, but not boucle ones).
Finally, I decided to decorate the hat with a voluminous flower. You can knit anyone, there are many diagrams and videos on the Internet. I know several ways to knit three-dimensional flowers, and this is the one I used.
I knitted a flower from smooth threads, like a folder. Using the same threads and a regular needle, I sewed a flower onto the hat and sewed a button in the middle.
That's it, the hat with ears and a decorative flower is ready. My granddaughter appreciated my work and liked it. I am happy to wear this white cap.
