Knitting a “Dinosaur” hat
If your child loves dragons, dinosaurs and other cartoon characters from this family, then I suggest knitting a dinosaur hat like this. It’s quite easy to knit, just follow our step-by-step instructions. This hat was knitted for a baby aged 1.5-2 years. But as you know, the height, weight and volume of a child do not depend at all on age. Therefore, I suggest checking your knitting with another baby hat that fits him. If necessary, feel free to add a few loops; they do not play any role in the design, but the funny “Dinosaur” hat will fit the child exactly.

1. Choose the main color of the header. In my case, swamp green.

2. Selecting secondary tones. I have white and black. You can take blue, cream or brown.

3. We start knitting with 85 air loops.

4. Close all the loops into a ring.

5. We knit the first row with single crochets. Attention: the beginning of each row is a chain of 2 vp.

6. We knit the second row of the cap without changes. In this way we knit 11 rows.

7. Row 12 – the beginning of reducing the number of loops in the hat. We knit 7 double crochets, and then skip one loop of the previous row. Then again 7 dc and skipping a loop.We knit according to this principle until the end of the row.

8. To skip stitches in the next row, you don’t have to count the stitches. It is enough to look carefully at the previous row and make a pass in the same place. A missing stitch looks like a small hole in knitting and is impossible not to notice.

9. By knitting 5 rows like this, we have significantly reduced the volume of the dinosaur hat.

10. We knit the next two rows with double crochets through one loop and finish knitting the base of the headdress.

11. Knitting spikes (plates on the back of a dinosaur) starts with 5 ch.

12. We knit 6 single crochets. Then we knit two stitches into each loop of the previous row and two stitches into one loop. Then we repeat this combination. (If you can, knit 3 loops into one loop, instead of 2. Since this is difficult to do, it is permissible to knit two loops in the first row instead of three).

13. The next row is knitted simply. There is one stitch in each loop, and in the loop where we knitted 2 (or 3) we again knit 3 loops. In this way, the ribs of the plate are formed.

14. We knit this way until the required height and width of the spike.

15. We need to knit 4 identical spikes for the spine of the dinosaur hat.

16. Try on the base of the hat and find a place for the ears. We begin to knit them with regular double crochets. I have two lifting loops and 10 posts.

17. In the opposite direction we knit 1 stitch less.

18. The third row of ears is knitted even smaller.

19. We knit two more rows with the same decrease and finish knitting.

20. On the reverse side we repeat the entire knitting process. Well, the ears are ready.

21. We knit the eyes. I started with the pupil – black. We make a ring of 4 loops and tie it with 6 single crochets.

22. We knit two in each loop.

23. We knit one loop and two in the next.We repeat this until the end of the row.

24. We need to knit one stitch, then another one and 2 stitches in one loop. We knit like this until the end of the row and finish knitting.

25. Using this principle, we knit a large white circle and a small white one, in which there are only 2 rows.

26. Sew on the dinosaur’s eyes with thread.

27. We tie the hat with black thread.

28. All that remains is to make the ties. Laces are a regular chain connected by two threads: black and green.

29. Sew on the strings and the “Dinosaur” miracle hat is ready.
