Second life of a shabby sofa
Life does not stand still, and all things deteriorate over time and take on an unkempt appearance. Prices for goods are also growing rapidly, and the financial capabilities of our compatriots do not always allow them to immediately update their wardrobe or change furniture in the house. What to do if your home interior needs improvement, but there is no money to purchase new property? You can take one of two paths: either wait for better times to come, or show your imagination and try to improve your life yourself.
Let's look at how this can be done using an old sofa as an example. A similar piece of furniture will probably be found in every home. Such things are much superior in quality to samples made by modern industry. The restored sofa is in excellent condition - it is not loose or broken. The only thing that needs to be done is to improve its appearance, make it more modern.
For work we will need the following equipment and materials:
1. Fabric in two colors (depending on the length of the product and the size of the sofa cushions).
2. Furniture stapler.
3. Staples for the stapler.
4. Sewing threads with a needle.
5. Scissors.
6. Sewing machine.
Sequence of work
1. Free the sofa from the pillows and pull out the front bar.
2. Prepare the fabric for the upcoming work. We decided to use two types of fabric (soft ribbed material in a pleasant coffee color and smooth upholstery fabric in a calm color).
3. We process the front strip and back of the sofa. We lay out the selected fabric on a flat surface and cut out rectangular pieces in accordance with the dimensions of the furniture.
4. Using a stapler, we fasten the material from the inside of the plank.
5. Wrap the fabric around the corner of the pull-out part of the sofa.
6. We fix the material on the back side of the wooden part.
7. Fasten the fabric to the underside of the retractable bar.
8. Let's start decorating the backrest. Using the stapler again, we attach the cut piece to the vertical surface of the sofa.
9. The product will then look like this.
10. Let's start decorating the sofa cushions. We cut out the rectangular parts according to the given dimensions, not forgetting to leave allowance for the seams.
11. Sew the cut material on a sewing machine.
12. This is what the finished case will look like. After processing it must be turned out.
13. We stretch the sewn cover onto the sofa cushion.
14. Fold the fabric inside the cover and carefully sew up the unfinished side of the product.
15. We make covers for all sofa cushions in the same way.
This is how, without much hassle, an old thing gets a chance to live a second life. And the family is an opportunity to reduce the cost of purchasing new furniture. We wish you success in all your future creative endeavors!
