“Bogatyrskie” manti with minced meat
Manti - a very satisfying and tasty dish. And, of course, it’s high in calories, but it’s perfectly digestible due to the fact that it’s steamed. There are a huge number of recipes for their preparation. Manti is prepared with different fillings: with lamb, pork, beef, horse meat and even with pumpkin and other vegetables. Although this is a traditional dish of the peoples of Central Asia, in our country they also love to cook manti.
Manti is not at all difficult to prepare; even a novice cook can handle it. Therefore, preparing manti is a wonderful reason to please your loved ones!
Required:
1. Pour flour into a deep bowl, then add water (it should be lukewarm so that the dough kneads better) and a pinch of salt. Knead a fairly stiff dough.
2.Now the dough needs to be covered with a towel or put in a bag and left to “rest” for 60 - 80 minutes. The dough should become softer and more elastic.
3. Now let's prepare the filling.Any meat is suitable, but I like pork manti most of all because then they turn out more juicy. The meat needs to be chopped into small cubes (you can also make minced meat, of course, but it won’t be manti). To get small cubes, the meat must not be completely defrosted.
4. Peel the onion, wash it under cold water, and also cut it into small cubes.
5. Now you need to combine the pork with onions, add salt, spices to taste (I only add pepper) and mix everything thoroughly.
6. Now roll out the dough into flat cakes (I make them quite large). If the dough is rolled out too thin, then when pinching it, it may tear.
7. You need to put some filling on each tortilla. Now you need to form the manti: first, two sides are pinched in the middle, then the two remaining sides are pinched to this middle, leaving “tails”. The result was something a little like a star. Now we connect these “tails” on both sides.
8. Now you can send the manta rays to prepare. It is better to lubricate the steamer levels with vegetable oil to make it easier to remove the manti later. Then lay them out so that there is a distance between them and they do not touch each other. We set the cooking time on the double boiler to 40-50 minutes (since my manti turns out to be large, I set it for 50-60 minutes).
9. So, “Bogatyrskie” manti with minced meat are ready! They can be topped with various sauces, butter or sour cream.
