Soldering various metals with wire from Aliexpress
Aliexpress has excellent flux-cored wire called welding wire. With its help you can solder not only aluminum, but also almost all metals!
This three-meter wire with a melting point of 360 degrees Celsius will cost approximately $11.54.
If you search, you can find the same wire much cheaper than the previous one: for 10 meters they ask for only 10 dollars. True, the melting point here is higher, reaching 490 degrees Celsius. Therefore, if the first wire is suitable for thin aluminum, then this one will be convenient for welding thick metal.
This wire is in high demand among residents of the former USSR, apparently because many Kulibins live there.
What is needed for soldering aluminum and other metals?
At home you only need three things:
Soldering process step by step:
Let's weld the fitting with the transition to the hose.
We fix the products in a vice, take the wire and a gas cylinder with a burner.
Important! It is necessary to heat the parts to be connected, but not the wire. Therefore, we light the burner and warm up the parts thoroughly.
As soon as everything has warmed up well, touch the wire to the joint. If it spreads, then we proceed to soldering, distributing the solder evenly along the joint. If the temperature is not enough, we continue to heat.
By applying wire along the entire length of the joints, we ensure that all seams and recesses are filled.
After forming a continuous seam, let the product cool on its own; there is no need for special cooling!
After cooling, a sealed connection was obtained that would definitely not fall apart. Almost like real welding.
You can solder together products not only from one metal, for example, aluminum, but also from different metals: copper, steel, etc. This way you can join aluminum to brass, brass to brass, and even brass to steel.
In principle, you can solder any metals in any combination!
Ferrous metals are soldered no worse.
The amazing strength of the connections allows you to solder even those parts that will then contain liquid or air under high pressure!
Features of work and safety precautions
The soldering process occurs at high temperatures and therefore care must be taken when working.
The nuances of soldering with aluminum:
- Be careful when working so as not to get burned, since the temperature is significant, unlike conventional tin soldering.
- Aluminum in the straightened state is a very fluid metal, so you need to apply the wire in very small portions.
- Parts must be stationary when soldering.
- The soldered product must not be touched until it has completely cooled under natural conditions.
Such soldering wire with flux A must have for every person who loves to make and repair things!
