Two ideas for a drilling machine
See how you can make two very useful devices for a vertical drilling machine, which will definitely be useful not only for any master, but also for an ordinary amateur.
1. Grinding attachment for drilling machine
For production we will need:
Fiberboard or regular board
- Bolts, nuts, washers.
- PVA glue.
- Wood drills.
- Sandpaper.
- Bearing.
- Rasp.
- Construction stapler.
- Pliers.
- Screwdriver or screwdriver.
- Self-tapping screws.
Assembly order
In our case, we use fiberboard, since we had leftovers on hand. But there is no difference, you can take a regular board. We cut it to the size of the working table of the drilling machine.
We mark and make holes for fastening to the machine. Next, we drill holes for the bolt heads so that they do not protrude. It is more convenient to do this with a feather drill.
We fix the fiberboard panel on the drilling machine using bolts and nuts.
Next, we attach the core drill to the machine. The diameter of the drill must match the diameter of the bearing used.
We drill a hole for it and make a countersunk hole for the bolt head.
We put the bearing on the bolt and tighten it with a nut.
Use a core drill to cut wooden circles.Select the diameter to suit your needs and preferences.
Then we coat them with PVA, assemble them onto the bolt and tighten them with a nut.
You need to put a larger washer under the nut to prevent it from cutting into the wood. Clamp as tightly as possible to ensure a secure seal.
We fix the resulting roller in the chuck, and place the lower part with the bearing into the hole in the fiberboard by adjusting the work table in height.
The wooden roller has some runout that needs to be eliminated. We bring it to a round shape using a rasp. The better its processing, the easier it will be to work in the future.
Next, glue the sandpaper using PVA glue.
You can fix it until it dries using a furniture stapler.
Don't forget to remove the staples when you're done gluing!
Main advantages
The grinding machine is ready. It can be modified with a small stand.
It is especially convenient to grind parts with internal radii, but processing straight lines will not be difficult.
This homemade machine is characterized by high productivity, ease of assembly and low cost of components compared to factory-made analogues.
2. Table for drilling pipes and round profile parts
For production we will need:
- Metal corner.
- Metal plate.
- Bulgarian.
- Welding machine.
- Ruler.
- Bolts, nuts.
Build process
First, use a grinder to cut two corners of the same size.
Then we butt weld them to the plate, as shown in the photo.
After welding, we clean the weld seams and the part itself.
It can be painted at your discretion to protect the product from corrosion.
Now we attach the plate to the drilling machine so that the drill falls exactly into the line where the two corners meet.
We fix it with bolts and nuts.Select the dimensions of the plate and angles taking into account the need for the parts being processed and the size of your drilling machine. The product is ready for use.
Main advantages
Thanks to the identical corners, centered relative to the drill, you can make a hole in any pipe or round part exactly in the center, without displacement or distortion.
And due to the shape of the corners, it will be securely fixed and will not move during drilling.
This design is characterized by high reliability and drilling accuracy.
The manufacturing process is not difficult, and the materials can be found in any garage or scrap metal, which reduces its cost to almost zero.
