Universal jig for sharpening circular saws using regular sandpaper
In order for a tipped circular saw to dust without chipping, the teeth must be sharpened in two planes with a strictly specified angle. It is convenient to do this on a self-made conductor.
Materials:
- telescopic drawer guides;
- plywood 18-20 mm;
- bolts and nuts M8-M10;
- bearing;
- fluoroplastic blank for the bushing.
Conductor manufacturing process
First you need to prepare 3 rectangular pieces of plywood or chipboard of different sizes. The larger one will serve as a sole for the jig and emery; the remaining ones need to be connected together with guides for the drawer.
4 eyes are cut out of plywood. Holes for bolts are made in them, and one side is rounded.
Two eyes are screwed with self-tapping screws to the previously made guide. The rest are attached to a plywood strip. As a result, when connecting the eyes with bolts, you should get a structure like in the photo.
A hole is drilled in the center of the rail between the eyes and a bolt is inserted into it. It is advisable to glue it. Next, you need to select a bearing for the bolt, with an outer diameter equal to the disk seat.Then a sleeve is machined from fluoroplastic. It should press the disc when screwing the wing nut onto the bolt.
The guide with the installed disk is screwed to the sole. On the side, emery is installed on spacers of the required height so that the grinding wheel reaches the teeth of the disk.
The jig allows you to fix the desired angle and sharpen tipped teeth along two planes. As a result, you can bring the circular disk to perfection so that it cuts any materials, be it solid wood or laminated chipboard, without chipping.
