4 useful uses of the DVD drive mechanism
DVD and CD drives are gradually becoming obsolete, regardless of where they are installed: be it a computer or a DVD player. An era is passing, but a pile of iron remains idle. Now you will be presented with 4 useful homemade products that can be made from an old mechanism from such a drive.
We remove the mechanism from the case. It should look something like this:
We unscrew the slide along which the laser head with shiny rods moves. Unscrew the motor that drives the disk. We leave only the engine with gears, which extends and retracts the slide.
Take a rectangular piece of aluminum or other metal. We drill 3 holes in it. We screw a self-tapping screw into one and put on an axle, which is made from paste from a gel pen. This will be the handle for rotation.
We screw short screws into the other two holes and put on plastic scraps.
We screw them into the gear.
The result is a kind of transmission, a gearbox of two gears, which increases the speed of rotation of the motor shaft by manual effort.
If you connect to the output of an electric motor Light-emitting diode (or several of them), you will get a flashlight.
The gearbox allows you to rotate the handle slowly, and Light-emitting diode will shine very brightly.
You can connect a small 3 V battery to the output. And by rotating it, charge it and bring it back to life.
If you connect a plug from a mobile phone to the output of the motor, you can get a manual generator for charging your mobile phone.
The advantage of such a device is that it is always ready to work in any conditions.
Electricity can be used to transmit mechanical torque.
We connect another motor to the output and it starts to spin when the generator handle is rotated.
Moreover, if you change the rotation, then the other motor also changes the direction of rotation.
These are the useful things you can make from old cider. Do you have any ideas about this? Write in the comments, everyone will definitely be interested.
