How to make a keyless secret lock for a gate

A secret lock with a hidden pedal will help protect your site from unwanted guests. If the gate is made of a metal profile like a fence, then with such locks it is even impossible to find it, since it does not stand out from the street.

What you will need:

• rod 6-12 mm;
  
• bolts, nuts M8-M10;
  
• corner 30x30 mm;
  
• strip 30-40 mm;
  
• tube 10-15 mm.

Lock making process

A bolt is welded or screwed onto the gate frame. It will serve as the counterpart of the lock, to which the hook will cling.

A piece of corner piece is screwed or welded onto the fence post adjacent to the gate. A hook cut from a strip is attached to it. The edge of the hook should catch the counter bolt on the gate. A limiter for the hook must be placed on the corner so that it does not turn over to the other side.

A guide tube is welded vertically under the hook to insert a pusher from a rod. A washer is welded at the bottom of the rod, which is twisted with a short lever from a piece of strip.
The end of the lever is welded to the horizontal rod of the pedal mechanism. It passes through a tube sleeve welded horizontally to the post.

The rod of the pedal mechanism itself is L-shaped. It is enough to step with your foot on its bend, which protrudes into the street, and the rod will rotate along its axis, thereby raising the lever. The latter, in turn, will push the hook through the bar, opening the gate.


What does the secret pedal look like?

Almost invisible, like the gate itself in the fence.

As soon as you press it with your foot, the door opens.
