How to make a conductor for quick welding from a brake pad and a gas lift
If you have to make a lot of corner parts from pipes, angles and other rolled metal, then it would be a good idea to use this jig. It will not only allow you to maintain 90°, but also eliminate distortion along other planes.
Materials:
- steel sheet 5 mm;
- corner 20x20 mm;
- trunk gas strut;
- brake shoe.
Conductor manufacturing process
The structure of the conductor is a base made of sheet steel. A trunk shock absorber is attached to it diagonally, at the other end of which a brake pad is attached. This structure, when extended, presses against the corner stop. That is, when laying the parts to be connected between the block and the angle, they will be pressed and automatically aligned at 90°.
Based on the length of the gas stop of the trunk, it is necessary to cut the base of the conductor of a suitable size from sheet steel.
Next, you need to drill a hole in the center of the brake pad and in the shock absorber mount, then connect them together with a bolt.
A hole for an M6 bolt is drilled in one corner of the base.
The second shock absorber mount is also drilled.
The hole in the base needs to be partially widened to recess the bolt head. Then the gas stop is screwed to the sheet.
A 90° angle is welded from two pieces of angle.
It is welded to the base close to the block.
After this, the jig can be used to weld parts at right angles in one plane.
