How to defrost washer fluid in a tank with a homemade heater
If you forgot to change your regular glass washer to a winter one in time, and ice appears in the tank, then do not rush to remove it and warm it up indoors. Make yourself this simple heater and you can always melt ice right in the tank. If it is not completely filled, then everything is guaranteed to work out.
It is necessary to open the frozen tank and top it up with anti-freeze washer, leaving a 3-4 cm air gap. Then a homemade heater is dipped into it, which consists of 2 12V light bulbs with wires or one 24V soldered together in series.
A 5-7A fuse is soldered into it. Alligator clips are placed on the edges of the wires.
The heater is connected to the battery terminals.
As a result of combustion, incandescent light bulbs heat up, so they gradually melt the ice.
When everything thaws, you need to use up the summer washer fluid and replace it with non-freezing liquid. The method works and is completely safe. There will be no short circuit due to exposed contacts in the tank, due to the high resistance of the liquid, which the battery charge cannot overcome.
