How to use a broken caulking gun to make a jack for home furniture and more

When rearranging your home or rolling up rugs, you may need to lift heavy furniture, refrigerator, washing machine and other heavy equipment. In order not to load your back, it is best to do this with a special mini jack. This is an extremely simple device that you can make yourself.

Materials:

sealant gun (possibly broken);
M3-M4 screws – 4 pcs.;
layers with threads from an old switch or socket - 2 pcs.;
Sheet steel.

Jack manufacturing process

The first step is to make a hook plate that will support the bottom of the furniture when lifted. It is cut from a piece of sheet steel. Its size is selected individually, in this case it is 11x6 cm. It needs to be drilled under the gun rod, and also 2 holes for screws must be made on the sides.

The supporting frame of the sealant tube must be removed from the gun. The jack only needs a rod extension mechanism. Then you need to tighten the nut and remove the washer.

A plate is threaded onto the rod and screwed to the base with screws.For this purpose, plates from an old Soviet switch are used. If you don’t have these on hand, you can cut them out of sheet steel, drill and tap them.

The previously removed plate is returned to the rod. You can replace it with the same plate, which will increase the stability of the jack. Then the support is pushed under the furniture, and the jack is pressed out with the handle. To release it, you need to press down on the spring-loaded lever of the lock.
