How to make a long-range, narrowly directional Wi-Fi antenna with modest dimensions

This model of homemade Wi-Fi antenna has a very narrow radiation pattern compared to other types of antennas. In fact, it is a “beam beam”, which increases the reception range due to the concentration of the “beam” at one point. The simple-to-manufacture design is easily repeatable. There is no need to make any calculations; a printable template is included.
A kind of radio telescope with which you can “listen” to distant houses with many points.

Making a highly directional 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi antenna with your own hands

First of all, print out the 1:1 template. We cut out acrylic glass using it and select a tin pipe. As an option, you can use a PVC pipe covered with foil tape. One side of the pipe is covered with a metal cap.

Using the template strips, cut the copper tape into appropriate sections.

And glue it to the glass on one side.

Turn the glass over and glue one strip on the other side.

Drill thin holes along the edges of the double strip.

We solder using tinned pieces of copper wire. The result is a closed circuit.

You can use a connector with a flexible wire, solder one lead to the bottom and the other to the top.

Or you can take a connector and solder it directly. To do this, we will make an extension using a piece of wire.

To solder the connector directly, we make a cutout in the plexiglass and solder it.

To ensure reliability of the structure, we fasten it by “cold welding” without touching the solder contacts.

In the middle of the pipe we will make a hole for the tripod.

We will make a hole in the metal pipe plug for the connector. We install the antenna inside through insulating gaskets, since the metal case should not touch the common wire.

Cover with a plastic lid and place on glue.

The narrowly directed and long-range Wi-Fi antenna is ready.

Hover check. We direct the plastic plug towards the receiving side. This is what the picture will look like if the antenna is pointed at one of the apartment buildings at a distance of up to 1 km.
