How to simply preserve melon and enjoy “pieces of summer” in winter
Taking out a jar of such “pieces of summer” from the cellar and enjoying it in the winter is simply an indescribable pleasure. Canned melon retains its flavor and is used to prepare various desserts.
Ingredients
For preservation you will need a minimum of ingredients (calculated for 1 liter jar):- - 1/2 melon;
- - 4 tbsp. spoons of sugar;
- - citric acid, 1 g.
How to preserve melon for the winter with your own hands
Melon is cut into pieces. The size of the pieces should be such that they can be conveniently added to jelly, ice cream, cakes or yogurt.
Wash the jars thoroughly first. The jars are filled with chopped melon.
The water is brought to a boil. A jar of melon is filled with boiling water and infused for 10 minutes.
Water from the jar is poured into the pan. Sugar and citric acid will be used to prepare the syrup.
Sugar and citric acid are poured into water and brought to a boil. The syrup is mixed until the sugar is completely dissolved.
The melon is filled with syrup. The jar of melon is placed in boiling water for sterilization.
Sterilization (boiling the jar while open) takes 10-12 minutes.
The jar of melon is rolled up with a lid, turned over, covered with a towel, and kept in a dark place until it cools completely.
