How to unravel a PET bottle onto a ribbon without a bottle cutter
Many people make special bottle cutters that are used to cut PET bottles into ribbons. The latter are then used as rope, for weaving cords and various crafts. This tape is durable and also has heat-shrink properties. If you need it, you can cut it with a knife without a complicated bottle cutter.
What you will need:
- PET bottle with cap;
- sharp knife or replaceable blade of a mounting knife.
The process of cutting a bottle into ribbons
To dissolve, you will need a plastic bottle cap. It is cut in half along the sides, then bent outward along the notches.
The folded lid needs to be pierced with a knife. Its blade should be parallel to the deflection. The gap from the blade to the bend will form the width of the tape. This distance is selected according to how it should turn out.
The neck of the bottle is cut off. Then the knife with the lid is applied to its edge. The wall should fit into the gap between the lid halves. After that we cut it into ribbon.When it comes out, you need to grab it and pull it, pressing the tool down.
As a result, we get a high-quality ribbon, absolutely indistinguishable from one unraveled with a complex bottle cutter. Cutting with such a tool is a little more difficult, but you don’t need to waste time making it.
