How to make a reusable bottle for washing a gun with polyurethane foam
After working with polyurethane foam, be sure to wash the gun. For this, special washes are used that need to be purchased. Their actual cost is clearly higher than the price of the liquid that is inside the cylinder. Therefore, in order to save money, you can make a reusable container for cleaning polyurethane foam, running on acetone, which dissolves it perfectly.
Materials:
- An empty container of foam cleaner;
- valve for tubeless tires;
- solder and flux;
- acetone.
Manufacturing process of a reusable flushing bottle
The bottom of an empty foam remover bottle must be drilled to install a valve for a tubeless tire. It is important that it is without pressure, otherwise residual solvent and gas may splash into the eyes when drilling.
The valve itself must be cleared of rubber. Part of it can be cut off and the rest sanded off.
The outside of the valve cleans well for soldering.
Then you need to sand the surface around the hole in the solder bottle.
The stripped metal is coated with flux and tinned with solder.The fastest way to do soldering is with a regular gas torch. Then we tin the valve. Now you need to heat up and solder the valve to the cylinder. You shouldn’t skimp on solder; you need to do everything reliably. If desired, the excess tin can be sanded off, but this is not necessary.
Using a syringe, pour acetone or another solvent into the cylinder through a valve without a spool that can wash off the mounting foam. It is better to fill no more than a third of the volume at a time. Then we return the spool and pump in air, pumping up a pressure of 8 atm.
Now the cylinder can be inserted into the gun and used to wash off the foam. An inexpensive bottle of acetone for refilling it will last for a very long time, so this homemade product will allow you to save a lot.
