Mackerel in soy marinade in the oven - amazingly beautiful and incredibly simple

Today we present to your attention an original and interesting recipe for cooking mackerel in soy marinade in the oven. Mackerel, pre-marinated in soy sauce with the addition of vegetable oil and spices, and then baked in the oven, turns out very tender and tasty. The unusualness of this recipe lies in the serving of the fish itself: the mackerel carcass is cut up, removing the entrails and bones, and then the cut (not completely) pieces of fish are turned out, thus forming a kind of Christmas tree with a trunk in the form of an abdomen, and baked until cooked in the oven. It turns out simple, but very tasty! Checked!

Ingredients:

  • fresh frozen mackerel – 1 pc.;
  • soy sauce – 2 tbsp. l.;
  • vegetable oil – 1 – 2 tbsp. l.;
  • seasoning for fish – 1 tsp;
  • paprika – 0.5 tsp.

Preparation:

1. First of all, prepare the mackerel for further baking. To do this, defrost the fish (if necessary), cut off the fins, tail and head. Without cutting the mackerel, carefully remove the insides (they are easily removed when you remove the gills) and rinse it thoroughly under running water. The result should be a neat fish carcass.

2.Once the mackerel is cooked, carefully cut along the spine (no need to cut through the underbelly!), carefully remove the spine and take out the large bones adjacent to it. Dip the inside of the cut mackerel with a paper towel.

3. Next, cut the mackerel into pieces proportionally on both sides (starting from the back of the fish) (without completely cutting the belly, it should remain intact and serve as a frame on which the mackerel pieces will be held). Place the fish (outside side up) on a baking sheet or pan, covering the bottom with parchment paper and greasing it with vegetable oil (you can use foil or a silicone mat instead of parchment). After this, turn each sliced piece of mackerel onto its edge, forming a kind of Christmas tree.

4. After the mackerel is fully prepared, start preparing the marinade. To do this, in a small container, mix vegetable oil (unflavored), soy sauce, fish seasoning and paprika.

5. Lubricate the mackerel on all sides with the resulting marinade (it is best to use a brush for these purposes). Let the fish marinate for 10 - 15 minutes, then bake it until golden brown in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for about 15 - 20 minutes (during this time, a delicious golden crust should form on the mackerel).

6. Once the mackerel is cooked, remove it from the oven and place it on a plate. Baked fish in soy marinade can be served both hot and cold. A great addition to this mackerel would be sour cream or tartar sauce. Bon appetit!
