Knitting a merry New Year's cockerel
Such a funny symbol of the New Year will add to the mood of children and adults, decorate the New Year's table, Christmas tree, and will be a memorable gift to friends and loved ones.
Let's introduce the following notations: pr - increase (we knit two loops in a loop), dec - decrease (we knit two loops together), s/bn - single crochet, s/n - double crochet, s/n - chain crochet.
1/ We knit 6 s/bn into a magic ring, tighten it.
2/ We make an increase in each loop, 12 loops.
3/ We make an increase through one column, 18 loops.
4/ Add through 2 stitches, 24 loops.
5/ Add after 3 stitches, 30 stitches.
6/ We make an increase through 4 columns, 36 loops.
7-12/ No additions.
13/ 2 s/bn, dec, 4 s/bn, dec, 18 s/bn, 4 s/bn, dec, 2 s/bn, 33 loops in total.
14/ 1 s/bn, dec, 3 s/bn, dec, 18 s/bn, 3 s/bn, dec, 2 s/bn, 30 loops in total.
15/ 1 s/bn, dec, 2 s/bn, dec, 18 s/bn, 2 s/bn, dec, 1 s/bn, 27 loops in total.
16/ dec, 1 s/bn, dec, 18 s/bn, 1 s/bn, dec, 1 s/bn, 24 loops in total.
17/ We repeat the rapport *2 s/bn, ub* 6 times, making 18 stitches in total. On the last decrease, change the color of the yarn to white.
18/ Using white yarn we knit 18 loops behind the back wall.
19 and 20/ No changes.
21/ We make 6 decreases with rapport *1 s/bn, dec*, 12 loops remain.
22 and 23/ No deductions.
24/ For the head 6 times with rapport *1 s/bn, inc*, loops 18.
25/ We knit with rapport *2 s/bn, inc*, 24 loops in total.
26 – 30/ No additions, 24 loops each.
31/ *2 s/bn, dec* 6 times, 18 loops.
32/ *1 s/bn, dec* 6 times, 12 loops remain.
We put in the filler.
33/ 6 decreases, i.e. All loops are two together, connecting, leaving the tip. Then, using a needle and thread, we tighten the remaining loops behind the front walls and hide the tip.
Scallop:
• using red yarn we knit a chain of 6 strands,
• make a yarn over, insert a hook into the second loop, and knit a rapport 3 times *4 s/n in one loop, a connecting one in the next one*, at the end we make a connecting one,
• leave the tail longer to sew the comb to the head.
Eyes:
• sew regular beads or half-beads between the 3rd and 4th rows of the cockerel’s head,
• if there are no beads, you can make a knot from thick threads, burn the tip a little and sew it on.
Beak:
• in yellow we make 6 s/bn into a ring, and we also knit a connecting loop there,
• tighten,
• leave the tip for sewing,
• we tie the ends,
• we make another part of the beak,
• sew between the eyes.
Gate. We knit it straight along the body:
• insert the hook into the front loops at the junction of the color changes on the body,
• knit 1 ch, go in rapport *3 s/n in one loop, connecting in the next*.
Beard. We knit 2 parts:
• make a ring in red, 6 s/n in it,
• tighten,
• knit 2 times with rapport *pr, 2 s/n*,
• in the next row 8 s/n,
• in the fourth row 1s/n, dec, 2 s/n, dec, 1 s/n,
• fasten the thread,
• we hide the tail inside,
• tighten the hole a little with a needle and thread behind the front walls,
• sew on.
Feathers. I have 6 such feathers, they are all knitted the same way:
• make a chain of 15 ch, yo,
• starting from the third loop from the hook, knit 6 times 4 s/n,
• the remaining 7 loops are single crochet,
• make 1 ch, turn the work, and from the first column we knit 7s/n,
• pull out the thread and sew both sides of the piece with single crochet with thread,
• knit the rest of the feathers and sew them in place.
Wings:
• we knit 6 s/bn in lilac color into a ring,
• in the second row we knit 1 s/bn, inc, 2 s/bn, inc, 1 s/bn,
• in the 3rd row 2 s/bn, inc, 3 s/bn, inc, 1/b, there will be 10 loops in the row,
• We knit the 4th and 5th rows 10 s/bn each, change the color on the last loop,
• in the sixth row we knit 10 stitches in blue,
• in the seventh 2 s/bn, dec, 3 s/bn, dec, 1s/bn,
• in the last row 8 s/bn, fasten the thread,
• we knit the second wing,
• sew both to the body.
Paws. Each paw consists of two fingers:
•for the finger in the ring we make 6 s/bn,
•we knit 4 rows of 6 s/bn, fasten the thread,
• we tuck all the ponytails inside,
• we knit the second finger in the same way, we tuck the tip, but do not cut the thread,
• in the second finger we knit the first 3 loops,
•connect the first one and knit all 6 loops in it,
•then we knit 3 loops of the first finger, we get a circle of 12 loops,
• in a circle we do 12 s/bn,
•then we knit every 2 loops together, we get 6 loops,
• we knit 4 rows of 6 loops each,
•fasten the thread, add filler,
• use a needle to tighten the hole well,
•knit the second leg and sew it to the body.
The cockerel is ready.
If desired, you can add any more details. For the Christmas tree, sew a loop onto the comb.
