Child protection on hinged wardrobe
The “lock” actually has 2 main functions: to prevent the child from opening the cabinet and to distract his attention for a short time. Making the “child protection” will take no more than an hour. This “fixture” is, of course, not suitable for all hinged cabinets. You will not be able to attach it to round handles. For one “lock” you need about 5-7 centimeters of wide Velcro tape (the wider and longer it is, the more difficult it is to open it), a base (wide elastic band, a piece of jeans, thick tape) with a length of 25 centimeters (this depends on the distance between the handles closet), fabric (preferably knitwear and drape) and beads for decoration (they need to be sewn on very tightly). Cotton wool and lacing may also come in handy.
We round the Velcro at the edges so that it looks “civilized”. We sew fabric onto the ribbon base. This is not necessary, in principle, although the finished product will look more attractive. For convenience, the fabric can be pinned with needles, and the seam can be used as an overcast stitch. We sew Velcro to the finished base (at the ends of the base tape). Be careful not to accidentally sew both pieces of Velcro on the same side.
You can already use this base, but I recommend decorating it with a fun toy, lacing or beads. I chose a flower. Cut out 2 circles from the drape. Cut out petals from colored knitwear (two petals of the same color, 10 petals in total). We sew the petals on top, turn them inside out and fill them with cotton wool. We assemble the flower: we sew all the petals to one part of the drape circle, then we close the draft version of the flower with a second circle of drape. We fix the finished flower on the base. You can also sew on a ladybug or a small toy purchased at the store.
Fixing doors is not the only option for using protection. You can put it on your hand like a bracelet. Another possible habitat for funny Velcro is a crib or stroller. You can decorate your entire child’s room with these locks, use them as curtain holders, clips for bags of toys, and so on.
