How to make a collapsible connection of profile pipes without welding
To make a collapsible connection for gates, balcony railings and fences, you can use a regular square profile pipe. It's simple, but the finished result will amaze with its unusualness and apparent complexity.
It is necessary to prepare 3 sections of profile pipe of the same length.
They mark the center along which transverse lines are drawn along all the walls. Accuracy is very important here, since the final result depends on it.
Next you need to mark the pipes along the center. It is applied only to one half up to the transverse line. To ensure everything is accurate, it is better to use a caliper. On one pipe, marks are made on all walls, and on the rest only on the two sides adjacent to one corner.
Longitudinal lines must be clear.If you don’t have a thin marker or the scriber doesn’t leave a clearly visible mark, then you can first set the dots with a corrector and scratch along them.
Using a grinder, you need to very carefully cut longitudinal lines on the workpieces. It is advisable to install a cutting wheel equal to the cross-section of the pipe walls or a few millimeters thicker.
After this, the parts with two cuts are inserted into the workpiece with four cuts. As a result, from the end they look like 3 intersecting rhombuses.
This part must be welded at two joints along the entire length of the pipes with continuous seams. This should be done on one side only. After this, the non-separable blank is cut into thin decors 5-15 mm wide. Spliced diamonds made in this way can be welded between the rods, resulting in a decorative lattice. They can be used to decorate forged products and other metal structures. It is better to place the weld seam connecting the pipes on jewelry from below, so that when viewed from above or directly, everything looks extremely neat.
It is important not to use long pipes in order to obtain many dismountable connections at one time. In this case, you will have to make long longitudinal cuts with a grinder, which will increase the chance of it becoming skewed and ruining the material. As a result, the parts cannot be connected so neatly. It is better to use 15-25 cm blanks at first until the skills are developed.
What you will need:
- profile pipe 40x40 mm;
