How to quickly heat a pool using a car radiator
Each of you can make an incredibly simple and extremely effective pool heating installation from almost any radiator of any car brand.
Everything comes together in 20-30 minutes without any problems. All components can be found in your garage or junkyard.
Will need
- Old radiator of a car cooling system. Can be purchased at a "disassembly" or at a "flea market".
- Old 200 liter barrel.
- Rubber pipes are taken from the same radiator.
All other parts: pump, hoses - come with the pool.
Heater design and principle of operation
The very base of the heating boiler is the lower part of a 200 liter barrel. That is, 2/3 of the top part of the barrel is cut off and a window is cut for the firebox.
A radiator is installed on top without any fastenings. Hoses are connected to it through standard sections of pipes. In fact, instead of the standard pool filter element, a radiator is included.
The pump takes water from the pool and supplies it to the radiator.
Water splashes back from the radiator, but already heated.
A fire is built in the stove, which in turn heats the radiator.
Bottom line
The efficiency of this installation is very high, heat loss is simply minimal. And if you put your hand on the radiator, the emanating heat from the fire won’t even burn it, because the radiator takes all the heat and releases it into the pool.
Ultimately, the installation heats such a huge tank in just two hours of operation! This is a very good time for such a capacity.
For example, if you heat all the water with an electric heater with a power of 2 kW, then it will take almost 10 hours instead of two to achieve the same result.
