An unusual way to make a perfect right-angle bend in a round pipe without a pipe bender
It is impossible to bend a large-diameter thick-walled pipe with a manual pipe bender. This is done in another accessible way. It is suitable in cases where the pipe will not be used for a gas pipeline or water supply, but only as a power structure.
What you will need:
- Bulgarian;
- welding machine;
- paper;
- ruler;
- scotch;
- marker;
- putty;
- dye.
Pipe bending process
A rectangle is cut out of paper, the length of which is equal to the circumference of the pipe, and its width is twice the diameter. It bends in half. A line is drawn along the bend, and parallels are drawn on the left and right with an indentation of 1 cm.
The sheet is wrapped around the pipe with the lines facing out, and its edges are connected with tape. Then the pipe is traced around its edges. Marks are placed on it along the side parallels and the seam line of the sheet. These points are connected.
Along the lines you need to place transverse marks in increments of 5 mm. Circles are drawn along them. The space between parallels is left clear.
A cut is made along each circle using a grinder.
After this, the pipe can bend, depending on the cross-section of the grinder disk, up to 45°. To bend it even more, you need to remove the centers of the strips one at a time.
The remaining side parts should be pressed inside the pipe. After this, it will bend at a right angle.
Further along the bend, several longitudinal welding seams are applied.
We sand the seams.
Everything is cleaned and puttied.
After painting, the resulting knee will look perfect.
