What to do if you accidentally break a PP pipe in the wall while drilling
Modern decoration of a bathroom or bathroom does not allow the laying of communications from the outside. All pipes are hidden in the walls, so it is not uncommon for them to be accidentally drilled when installing finishing plumbing fixtures. As a result, water flows in a thin stream directly from the hole in the wall. This problem can be solved without dismantling the tiles and replacing the pipe, simply by welding it.
What you will need:
- Soldering iron for PP pipes;
- repair rods;
- nozzle for a repair rod for a soldering iron;
- drill with tile drill;
- vacuum cleaner.
The process of welding a hole in a PP pipe
Before work you need to turn off the water. The hole in the wall and pipe is expanded to the diameter of the repair rod nozzle. Dust is removed from it with a vacuum cleaner. This is a must.
A repair attachment is installed on the soldering iron. It can be clamped onto standard equipment for soldering 20 mm pipes. If this is how it is done, then it is advisable to apply thermal paste between them.
Then you need to try to simultaneously insert the nozzle into the hole in the hidden pipe, and the repair rod itself into it.
After waiting for 6-10 seconds, you should close the hole with a molten chop.
When the plastic hardens, the excess length of the rod is cut off.
A hole repaired using this method will no longer leak. The drilled tile will still be covered by what they previously tried to hang on the wall.
