How to “tie” steel reinforcement without heating into a marine knot
People who are passionate about working with metal, after acquiring basic skills, try themselves in creating original things from metal. Tying knots from a round rod or reinforcement not only pleases the aesthetic taste, but is also of practical interest. After all, the industrial style is becoming increasingly popular.

The process of “tying” steel reinforcement into a double sea knot without heating
We clamp the steel periodic reinforcement in a vice and remove dirt, dust and rust with a grinder. We strengthen the pipe vertically in a vice, insert the fittings into it and bend 1/4 of its length by 180 degrees.
We clamp vertically in a vice along the edges of the jaws a pipe and a piece of template reinforcement equal in diameter, but lower in height. We place the bent part of the reinforcement on top and bend the short end around the pipe 90 degrees.
We place the loop in a vice so that the short end of the reinforcement points upward. We bring the jaws of the vice together and increase the bending angle of the short end, controlling the inner diameter of the loop with a template.
We clamp the long end of the reinforcement vertically so that from the intersection of the ends of the reinforcement to the top of the jaws of the vice there is a distance approximately equal to the outer diameter of the loop. Using a pipe-lever, bend the long end of the reinforcement 180 degrees in the direction opposite to the loop.
We change the position of the workpiece reinforcement in the vice so that the clamp includes: the part adjacent to the loop and the pipe and template folded together. Then, using a pipe lever, we bend the long side of the workpiece until it is parallel to the short side, but directed in the other direction.
We bend the loop a little more in a vice so that it matches the size of the first one. We bring the parts of the loops closer together to give them greater flatness. Again, we clamp the pipe vertically in a vice, onto which we put one of the loops in turn, and insert the end of the lever pipe into the other and bend the gap between the reinforcement, bringing the loops closer to each other.
We again put the loop with a short end on the pipe, vertically clamped in a vice. We also put a pipe on the short end of the fittings. From the edge between the vise jaw and the pipe at the short end, insert a steel wedge and tighten the resulting knot with a clamp.
We insert the end of the lever pipe into the second loop from below and try to bring it closer to the other loop.
We clamp the loops between the jaws of the vice so that the bend is at the top, and bring the jaws together until the loops touch.
After checking the diameter of the loop holes with a template, we give the unit a finished shape using a vice, a lever-tube and a grinder.
