Herring baked in the oven - delicious, period!

It is generally accepted that herring is only suitable for pickling or for the Herring under a Fur Coat salad. In fact, this fish is great for frying or baking. If you have never tried baked herring, I recommend you give it a try.

It is worth paying attention to the fact that herring is one of the fattest fish. This fish contains 18 g of protein per 100 g. In addition, herring contains a large amount of vitamins B, E, D, PP, as well as minerals: potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, phosphorus, iron and iodine. In general, a complete benefit.

So, I’m sharing with you a cool, and most importantly simple recipe.

Ingredients

To prepare baked herring we will need:

  • 1 herring;
  • 0.5 lemon;
  • 1 small onion;
  • spices;
  • salt;
  • vegetable oil.

Step-by-step recipe for baking herring in the oven:

1. Cut the belly of the herring and remove the entrails. We rinse the carcass with running water.

2. Grease with salt and spices.

3. Place lemon and onion slices on a baking sheet. Place the carcass on top. Lemon slices will protect the lower part of the herring from excessive exposure to temperatures. This way, our fish will be baked evenly on all sides.

4.We also put lemon and onion slices into the belly.

5. Pour a small amount of oil over the top of the fish, so it won’t be too dry.

6. Place in the oven for 20-25 minutes. Bake at a temperature of 170-180 degrees.

The baked herring is ready. I want to say that thanks to baking, the fish becomes not as fatty as ordinary salted herring.

I really liked the fish. It can also be cooked on the grill. The only drawback is the presence of small bones.
