How to build a concrete roof without using mechanical means
The perimeter of the sloping roof can be made of concrete, and this does not require mechanization, expensive materials or special tools. Three or four physically strong people can do this job pretty quickly and save a lot of money in the process. You can mix the concrete solution manually, but it is better to use a concrete mixer, which will not only make the work easier, but will also ensure high-quality mixing.
Will need
Materials:
- steel periodic reinforcement;
- soft binding wire;
- polypropylene fabric or roofing felt;
- old formwork boards;
- iron nails;
- beacons;
- construction concrete mortar, etc.
Tools: hammer, buckets, shovels, garden cart, construction trowels, trowels, safety equipment, etc.
The process of building a sloping roof from concrete mortar with your own hands
On the roof sheathing, designed for the planned load, we lay polypropylene fabric or roofing felt, securing it to the sheathing using a stapler or small nails with a wide head. We mount a reinforcement cage on top of the film or roofing felt.First of all, we lay the longitudinal elements along the slope, and on top - the transverse ones and connect them at all nodes with knitting wire.
Along the perimeter of the reinforcement frame we secure the formwork from suitable wooden boards using nails and a hammer. We moisten the inclined surface of the roof for concreting with water for better adhesion of the mortar to the roof surface and the reinforcement frame.
The solution, mixed in a concrete mixer, or manually placed on the prepared inclined surface of the roof with shovels and buckets on top of the reinforcement frame. We smooth out the mortar using construction trowels and trowels.
When laying concrete mortar, it is necessary to ensure that there are no voids or cavities left, especially in the corners, because the overall strength of the concrete roof in the future, which should last at least 20 years, will greatly depend on this.
After the concrete roof has set for at least two days, you can carefully dismantle the formwork, but you should not walk on the roof for a few more days. If the weather is dry and hot, you should wet the concrete surface several times with water from a diffuser to prevent the surface layer from quickly drying out and cracking.
