DIY towel doll
Nowadays, many interesting and original gifts can be bought in a store or ordered online. But they all do not convey the feelings and emotions that we want to put into them. There are such holidays and celebrations when it is difficult to choose the right one present or you want to give something very interesting and reminiscent of you. Here, for example, is a housewarming gift that is given as a housewarming gift. You are right, brownies, so that there is always comfort, happiness and money in the house; kitchen utensils, slippers, photo frames, but it’s more pleasant to give something made with your own hands. In such a gift you invest a part of yourself. For example, you can give an original kitchen towel made by yourself; you will learn how to make it in this Master Class.
To make a kitchen towel in the shape of a doll, you will need the following materials:
The towel consists of a doll with a dress on it, the upper part of the dress is a bodice piece sewn from calico fabric, and the lower part is a hem, a waffle towel cut in half.
First you need to make a pattern. The pattern is provided, you just need to reduce or increase it to the size you need. The pattern is simple, a hole for the head, a ribbon on the sides or some other way to secure the towel. We will need two of these parts, or you can also trace a ready-made pattern on a piece of fabric folded in half.
We prepare the pattern and sew it on a machine or by hand. We sew the edges of the part, but do not sew them together.
We process the cutout for the head, also sewing it on a machine.
On the reverse side, our doll has a very large head and they cannot fit through a regular cut. We make a cut on the back. We turn its edges and hem it.
Cut the waffle towel into two pieces of equal size. Then we assemble the upper edge of each piece; it is most convenient to do this by hand.
Next, using a needle and thread, we “bait” the hem of the dress on the bodice of the dress because even after gathering the top edge of the towel, the width of the towel turns out to be larger than the bodice of the dress. Then we stitch it on a machine.
Let's try it on the doll. The dress is almost ready. We don’t sew the hem of the dress together to make it easier to wipe your hand.
There's just one last detail left. The edges of the dress still need to be secured somehow. To do this, you can sew ribbons or pieces of fabric of the same color on the sides. Or, as in our case, cut two pieces of the same color from fabric of the same color, approximately 5 by 9 centimeters in size, hem the edges on a machine, and then sew them to the bodice of the dress.
Be sure to remember to sew a loop to the doll’s body so that it can be hung on a hook.
The towel doll for the kitchen is ready. You can sew several of these dresses and change them regularly. This craft will be an original and pleasant gift for a housewarming or any other occasion.
