Lush omelette in a bag
Egg dishes are loved by many. But sometimes the usual recipes get boring, and then you want to try something new. At the same time, it is desirable that the calorie content of breakfast or dinner does not increase. An airy, fluffy, tasty dish called “Boiled Omelet in a Bag” satisfies all these conditions. It is prepared without vegetable oil or butter, has a delicate texture and a richer taste than standard hard-boiled or soft-boiled eggs. This omelet is prepared quickly and does not require any special culinary skills. Try it and see for yourself!
Ingredients
To prepare one or two servings of boiled omelet in a bag you will need:
- 3 eggs;
- 150 ml fresh milk;
- salt and spices to taste.
You can also add any greens you like to the egg and milk mixture. It turns out especially tasty with dill, arugula, basil or green onions.
Cooking an omelet in a bag
We sequentially perform the following actions:
1. Place a medium-sized saucepan on the fire, first filling it with water to two-thirds of its volume.
2. Beat the eggs with salt with a whisk or submersible mixer until foam forms with bubbles.
3. Pour milk into the bowl and continue whisking. The mass will remain liquid, but will slightly increase in volume and become airy and fluffy.
4. If we are preparing an omelette with herbs, chop them finely and add them to the mixture of milk and eggs immediately after beating.
5. Pour the egg-milk omelette base into a bag and tie it with a knot, leaving some free space.
6. Carefully immerse the bag in boiling water and cook for 15 minutes. You can cover the pan with a lid.
7. Take the package with the prepared dish out of the water, cut it, carefully release the steam and place the omelette on the prepared plate.
Cooking tips
- For boiling, use two unpainted bags, placing one of them inside the other. This will prevent the omelet from leaking if the polyethylene is damaged.
- At the end of cooking, untie the knot carefully so as not to get burned by the hot steam. It is better to do this with gloves or first pierce the film with a knife so that the steam comes out in a thin stream.
- If you wish, you can add leftovers from dinner to the omelet: shredded meat, sausage cut into small pieces, as well as cheese or tomatoes. This will increase the nutritional value of breakfast, making it more satisfying, but the calorie content will also increase.
- Serve the omelette boiled in a bag immediately after cooking, after waiting about five minutes. It is especially tasty when freshly prepared. The dish can be supplemented with herbs and chopped vegetables. In this case, it will become not only the main component, but also the decoration of your breakfast.
