Shish kebab in the oven on coals
You probably experienced conflicting feelings when you read this title. Yes, barbecue on coals and in the oven are two completely different dishes. Moreover, I definitely wouldn’t call the latter a shish kebab, since it has nothing in common with it.
Anyone who has ever cooked shish kebab at home in an electric kebab maker, oven or other way will understand me - it’s just fried meat and nothing more.
So it turns out this is impossible? I suggest you familiarize yourself with a method in which you can cook shish kebab at home in the oven and which will be as similar as possible to the real thing. I sincerely recommend this recipe to apartment dwellers.
So what's the trick? It's simple: you just need to add some coals during cooking. Don't worry, your home won't be filled with smoke. They just add flavor to the product and that’s it.
You will also need wooden skewers or regular skewers, aluminum foil, and a baking sheet.
It is better to take meat with streaks of fat, then the kebab will be juicy and not dry.Cut the meat into medium-sized pieces.
Chop the onion and add to the bowl with the meat.
Add salt and seasonings. You can add a tablespoon of sunflower oil. To speed up the process, you can add mayonnaise or a tablespoon of vinegar, or better yet, squeeze out half a lemon.
Mix well and leave to marinate in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
Place the meat on skewers or skewers.
Now you need to prepare the coal. It needs to be lit; you can use a gas burner for this purpose. Place 6-7 small coals in a metal bowl and put on fire.
If you have a grill in your oven, then everything is even simpler - put the coals on a tray and put them under a hot grill for 10 minutes, and they should get hot.
Line the inner surface of the baking sheet with foil. Place the skewers. Place hot coals between them.
Place in an oven preheated to 220 degrees Celsius.
45-50 minutes and the kebab is ready!
The result is excellent! Hot, juicy, smoky - you'll lick your fingers!
As you can see, real barbecue at home is quite possible.
