To knead the dough, beat in an egg and add 100 grams. melted butter and a glass of water.
Everything is mixed and flour and baking powder are added. It is introduced in portions.
The dough is formed into a ball. Next, it is set aside to swell for 40 minutes in a warm place under a lid.
The dough is divided into 8 parts.
They are rolled into pancakes 2 mm thick.
Then from each of them you need to cut out a 15x20 cm square. To do this, you need to make a template from cardboard. The cut is made with a serrated dough knife.
In the center of the rectangles, transverse cuts are made with the same knife in increments of 1 cm. The sheet is stretched a little, folded in half and the edges of the dough are secured.
Then the dough is folded in half again and molded into the corners again. Next, you need to divide the strips into 2 equal parts and insert one edge through the resulting gap.
The corners of the dough need to be molded together to make a tube. This is how the remaining 7 pieces of dough are formed.
Baklava is fried in a large amount of vegetable oil on both sides until golden brown. The fire is set above average.
At the same time or after frying the baklava, prepare the syrup. Sugar is poured into the pan and water is added. It is boiled for 10-12 minutes, then lemon juice and honey are added to it. With them, the syrup should boil for another 5 minutes.
The final touch remains - soak the baklava in syrup and place it on a plate. After this, it is ready for use.
